Auction Information (updated January 2021)

We aim to make bidding and viewing sales at Ramsay Cornish as enjoyable and accessible as possible.  All auctions operate online with in person bidding now welcome, all in person bidders should register at the office where they will be given a bidder number for each sale.  Bidders are also welcome to leave either absentee bids or to arrange telephone bids.  Viewing is available on the day prior to each sale and on the morning of the sale until the auction starts at 11am.  For remote bidders we are very happy to offer condition reports or to give any further information regarding lots which you might find helpful.  We are pleased too to offer remote viewing where you can email us to arrange a time for one of our saleroom staff to contact you by your preferred video method (eg facetime/zoom) and to walk you round any lots you are interested in, showing you particular details you may wish to look at more closely for example the reverse or underside of an item or the movement of a clock.  Please email us on Enable JavaScript to view protected content. indicating your wish to book a remote viewing and the lots you are interested in.   Please be assured that we are always available to help.

General Homes & Interiors

At Ramsay Cornish we hold fortnightly General Homes & Interiors auctions including contemporary and antique furnishings, clocks, paintings and works of art, from the useful to the decorative.  All auctions are online to provide the best possible market exposure for your goods to sale.

Specialist Antique and Decorators auctions

Held bi-monthly - including silver, jewellery, militaria, furniture, paintings and prints, books, maps, scientific instruments, toys, decorative objects, clocks, watches, whisky, wine and spirits, Oriental and European, ceramics, glass etc.. Recent highlights have included:  Jenny Saville, Nude, sketch, sold for £223,200*, a rare bottle of Lagavulin whisky, sold for a record price of £14,260*, a pair of Regency circular mirrors, sold for £16,120*, a Japanese iron articulated snake, Meiji period, for £50,840*.

All Ramsay Cornish auctions begin at 11am. Our auction house is easily reached from the city centre, please click on our Google Maps link in the right sidebar.  Commission rate for buying at one of our auctions is 22% plus vat at the current rate.
